Perplexity AI’s Bold $34.5 Billion Bid to Take Over Google Chrome
Perplexity AI has made an offer to buy Chrome from Google. It is willing to pay an amount of $ 34.5 billion, according to a new Reuters report.
In January, Perplexity wanted to buy TikTok’s US operations. Perplexity has disclosed how it plans to fund the acquisition of Chrome. To date, it has raised about $ 1 billion in funding for its AI Chatbot. Perplexity AI on Tuesday, August 12, made an unsolicited all-cash offer to Google to buy the Chrome browser from it. The amount offered is more than double the current valuation of Perplexity.
Alphabet, Google’s parent company, did not comment on the matter. Perplexity offered not to alter the user defaults of Chrome users, including what serves as Chrome’s default engine. People can continue using Google to search without switching it out for Perplexity’s AI-powered search engine.
Comet is Perplexity’s AI-infused browser. It is able to perform tasks on your behalf. By buying Chrome, Perplexity can have more than three billion users for its AI services. This will also allow Perplexity to compete with OpenAI.
